Lurid Woman

A multi-genre short film thesis project set in the prohibition era South where mystery and murder unfolds the hidden connections between seeming strangers to the seduction of the Lurid Woman’s song. The film combines horror, drama, thriller, period, and musical elements and allowed Porter to return to the noir

style of filmmaking as well as his theater stage experience.

As Porter’s final project during heavy pandemic restrictions at SCAD, he and Lance had to choreograph a complex ensemble production within health and safety guidelines for a production of that size. As well as Directing, Porter executed the final edit, delivering both color and black and white versions of the film. The film is currently in festival rotation and as of Oct 2023 has two official selections and two nominations.
